Hardwood Installation in Dubois, PA

By following these helpful considerations for before, after, and during your new hardwood installation, you can ensure a smooth process in your home or business.

Before Hardwood Installation

Remove all furniture, electronics, items, and wall hangings from the rooms and closet areas receiving new hardwood. Since hardwood cannot be installed over an existing surface, your current floors will need to be removed completely. Complete all painting and touch-ups prior to installation. Your subfloor must be completely flat, and any imperfections must be repaired. Once your subfloor has been professionally assessed, you are ready for new hardwood. Bring your hardwood planks in the rooms to acclimate for at least 48 hours before installation day.

During Hardwood Installation

On the day of your hardwood installation, an adult needs to be home to answer questions for the installation crew. Designate an area in the home for the workers to keep installation tools, keep boxes of hardwood before they are installed, and to saw planks as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new hardwood and the worker’s area. Establish appropriate ventilation in the home as instructed by the installers.

After Hardwood Installation

Once your new hardwood is installed, it is important to wait the specified amount of time before walking on the new floors and returning furniture to the rooms. Always return furniture by either lifting or using proper moving equipment with rollers to avoid scratching the hardwood. We recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
